How Much Do You Invest in Yourself?

As an S&C coach, how often do you reflect on your personal and professional growth? This blog aims to prompt you to consider your self-investment strategies and inspire new ways to enhance your approach to life and coaching.

Recently, I started thinking about how we invest our time. Our athletes are dedicated to their sport, but what about us as coaches? How are we investing our time to improve ourselves and our coaching?

Self-investment is a recurring theme in self-help books and podcasts, and it's crucial for us too. Here are a few cost-effective strategies to enhance your knowledge and skills:

Library Card: Access a wealth of knowledge for free. Libraries offer numerous resources that can expand your understanding of various subjects, including sports science, psychology, and more.

Kindle: While there’s an initial cost (around £60), the long-term savings on books make it worthwhile. It's portable and allows you to read extensively on the go.

Blogs and Social Media: Use these platforms wisely. Follow experts and organizations that provide valuable insights and information relevant to S&C. Avoid the trap of endless scrolling and focus on content that contributes to your professional development.

Podcasts: Select podcasts that offer educational value. While entertainment is fine, prioritize those that provide insights and knowledge that can enhance your coaching techniques and philosophies.

The key takeaway is to invest in yourself consistently. Whether through time, money, or effort, every bit counts towards becoming the best version of yourself as a coach.

I hope this post encourages you to take actionable steps towards your self-improvement. If you have additional tips or strategies, please share them in the comments below!

Until next time,

Michael
